Gospel means “Good News.”  When we talk about the Gospel, we are talking about the Good News that we have in Jesus Christ.

This is the Gospel

 Man

Man was created by God to have a relationship with Him.

“Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.  And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” -Genesis 1:26

Sin

Sin means missing the mark, or messing up, and every person does things that God says are wrong.

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” -Romans 3:23

Penalty

We cannot have a relationship with God, because we are spiritually dead.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” -Romans 6:23

Payment

God loves us so much that He sent Jesus Christ to be born of a virgin, live a perfect life, die on the cross, and raise from the dead, as payment for our sin.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” -John 3:16

“But God showed His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” -Romans 5:8

Hope

God made one way for us to have a relationship with Him.  We must place our faith in Jesus Christ, and confess Him as Lord.

“Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”  -Romans 10:9-10

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father but by me.”   -John 14:6

“For by grace are you saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” -Ephesians 2:8-9

Peace

God has given us a gift that cannot be taken away, and we can have peace that our relationship is secure because of what He has done.

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.  My Father, Who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”   -John 10:28-30
